1.2 Conventional Pavement Techniques

Pavement Overlay or Resurfacing

This method is generally applied for pavement strengthening, where a new layer of asphalt is laid over the existing pavement surface. This process helps to improve structural integrity, enhance riding comfort, and extend the pavement's service life.

Mill and Pave (Cut & Patch)

This technique is applicable in cases where severe cracking or surface deterioration has occurred on the pavement. A milling machine is used to remove the affected surface area, after which a new layer of asphalt is laid in its place to restore durability and surface smoothness.

1.3 Advanced Asphalt Technology

Very Thin Overlay

This technique involves the application of a thin layer of wearing course, approximately 20 mm thick, using a modified bituminous binder. The pavement produced through this method demonstrates high performance in durability, safety, and skid resistance, making it ideal for surface renewal and preventive maintenance.

Porous Asphalt

This technique involves the use of porous asphalt with a modified bituminous binder. Due to its permeable structure, water is able to drain quickly from the pavement surface, effectively reducing ponding and splashing. Porous asphalt also provides improved skid resistance, lower noise levels, and enhanced driving comfort and safety.
